HOW WE STARTED
It all started in 2015 when the ramen wave started to hit the Midwest and Japanese natives Chika, Tomoko and Chikako were so excited to finally have some authentic ramen in Chicago. However, they soon realized that most of the ramen was missing key ingredients or made from commercial broth. It was then that they decided to create and share the flavorful dish that was exactly what they ate growing up in Japan.
The Torino Broth, with all-natural ingredients, is as natural as it comes. Torino takes great pride in our ability to serve the North Shore with a meal you will want to come back to.
WHAT DOES TORINO MEAN?
Not only "tori" means chicken (which is our signature broth), it comes from "Torino Festival." Every November, many people in Japan go to a festival called "Torino Ichi (酉の市)." Business owners purchase a decorative rake to wish (rake in) good luck and business prosperity. There are many street food vendors where you can enjoy traditional food as well.
We want TORINO to be a place where our customers can enjoy tastes of Japan - not just food and drinks, but even culture.
Chikako Eickbush: CEO. Born and raised in Tokyo. Mom of 5, formerly in IT marketing, Japanese food guru and owns a robata restaurant in Tokyo.
Tomoko Florida: Co-Owner, Head of Operations. Tokyo "old town" native. Hockey mom, former flight attendant, hotel management degree, and another Japanese food guru.
Chika Ashghari: Co-Owner, Chef. Head of Menu Development. Born and raised in Osaka, Japan. Social texting mom. Passion for cooking and entertaining, and of course Japanese food guru.
